PLANET HOLLYWOOD HOTEL LAS VEGAS
|
|
The ill-fated Aladdin has been completely reworked and re-branded as the Planet Hollywood resort and casino. Gone are all traces of the former desert/genie theme, which has been replaced by a hip contemporary vibe, down to the rock music soundtrack that plays 24 hours a day. Oversized posters of Hollywood legends adorn the public spaces, and actual movie props and costumes are placed in many of the rooms. The Desert Passage mall that surrounded the Aladdin hotel is now known as Miracle Mile Shops, home to more than 150 retailers, clubs, entertainment venues and restaurants. One holdover is the popular thunderstorm that occurs on the hour in the “harbor” section of the mall. Yes, it rains indoors! After shopping to exhaustion, you can find great mall dining at 13 restaurants, including Trader Vics, which offers outdoor tables directly on the strip (opposite Bellagio),
a perfect spot to sample one of their signature exotic drinks for two.
With the magnificent artwork laid out on the walls, there is no detail left to uncertainty. Planet Hollywood provides great demonstration to bringing the desert to the ..desert!
Of all the features at the Planet Hollywood, the most memorable will be the mile long Desert Passage shops. During your journey through this shopping paradise, you will find over 150 world-class stores and boutiques. As you make your way around Desert Passage, make sure you don't get caught up in the storm. Yes-it's true! A real storm, complete with the sounds and effects of thunder and rain, pour out of the blue Desert Passage sky for a unique strip experience.
After shopping to exhaustion, you can find great dining at P.F. Chang's China Bistro, Tremezzo, Elements, Oyster Bay Seafood & Wine Bar, or Bonsai. With over 18 restaurants, your taste buds will find its match.

Terry S.'s Comments :
We arrived at 11:00 am Feb. 18 and were given immediate access to all 3 of our rooms -- no waiting. It's worth the $35 to upgrade to a room with a view of the Bellagio fountains -- spectacular. Huge 42" flat screen TV and oversize bathrooms with tub and separate stall shower. This is surely one of the most beautiful casinos in Vegas -- tall ceilings and handsome modern decor. Rock music is playing everywhere 24 hrs. a day (but not too loud). The only time it bothered me was at breakfast in Planet Dailies. Trader Vics has outdoor seating overlooking the Strip and the Bellagio fountains. Highly recommended hotel (run by Sheraton) experience..
